My uncle did indeed give me some advice about the bread.
He told me I could have left the bread in another 5 to 10 minutes to make the crust much browner. Lean bread doughs (those without sugar or added fat) don’t burn easily. If you want a softer and browner crust, just brush the top with some butter after baking.
He also told me I could have started the oven at 400 F and baked for 10 minutes followed by baking at 375 F. The higher temps will give a better rise.
My uncle bakes lots of bread and he’s incredibly good at it.
